To
 Comrade VIRENDRA TEWARY,
General Secretary,
AIP SBCO EA,
New Delhi 110 001.

Dear comrade,

Sub: Authorizing Public sector banks and some private banks to opearate RD, TD. MIS, SCSS
        and SSA schemes

Ref: GOI, Ministry of Finance Notification dated 10.10.2017 on the above subjects

Your kind attention is invited to the above notification cited in the reference. POSB is mainly serving people across all walks of life, particularly middle class and below middle class Indians.

MIS, SCSS and SSA schemes and RD &TD schemes in different name are already in operation in the Banks.  POSB schemes yield more interest while comparing to the Banks. The decision now taken by the Govt. of India on allowing Public sector banks and some private banks to do the business on small saving schemes which are so far done exclusively by Post offices is a severe blow to the Public and to our Department particularly.

Allowing Public sector banks and some private banks in this area not only affects the Public but also our Department as the deposits made in these schemes at Post offices maybe in declining trend from the near future. This will seriously affect the Postal Employees including SBCO employee.

Our Circle Union strongly believes that the action of the Government is one step forward in the direction of Privatizing the Department by liquidating / diverting our valuable customers to the Banks.

Our Circle Union requests our General Secretary to assess the situation arising out of these orders and take appropriate action to safe guard the interests of our Employees and Department.

Yours faithfully,
